This weekend I finally took the time to try out a restaurant I’d been driving by for several months. Each time I drove by, I would say, “I’m going to try that place one of these days,” and finally I took time to visit Fiesta Mambo! Mexican Restaurant and Cantina (MAP). From the outside, it’s an adorable little addition to our city’s Main Street revival, and I discovered on Saturday that it’s as warm on the inside as it is outside.
The decor reminded me of places I visited in Miami, FL – a mixture of Latin and Island cultures that are so fun to visit on vacation. There is a well-stocked, very trendy-looking bar, but it’s in the back, so people with young families can feel comfortable in the front part of the restaurant.
The menu was very easy for English-speakers to read and decipher, which was convenient for me, because that’s the only language I know. I ordered a tilapia dish…I’m sorry, I’ve forgotten the name of it, but it’s one of the regularly-featured entrees. It was a plate full of grilled and barbecued deliciousness. The tortillas were hot and soft; the rice was perfect, and the vegetables were fresh and crisp.
The staff was so friendly and helpful, and the prices were very reasonable. I’m definitely planning to return, and bring friends.
