The Pioneer Family in Main Street Broken Arrow’s Centennial Park (MAP) has become one of the city’s famous icons. Commissioned by Broken Arrow, the sculpture is by David Nunneley (read his story, HERE), and is truly gorgeous. If the sculpture art looks familiar, it’s because Nenneley’s work is also featured in Broken Arrow’s Veterans Park.

This tiny memorial park is packed chock-full of Broken Arrow history, and is a must-see for anyone who wants to know more about the town. Aptly named, Centennial Park was built in honor of the Broken Arrow’s 100th anniversary (1902-2002). (Click HERE or on the photo below to enlarge and read the dedication.)
Right outside the park, on Main Street, is a bench commemorating the centennial of Oklahoma’s statehood, 1907 – 2007.

Oh, and mark your calendars, because one of the less obvious but most important features of this park is the time capsule, which is scheduled to be opened in 2052 (time TBA).
